Niam, one of Northern Europe's leading fund managers with a focus on real estate and infrastructure investments, acquires Brunswick Real Estate Capital. The business, which has €2.5 billion (SEK 25 billion) in assets under management, will be led by CEO Pontus Sundin and will operate as an independent company under Niam Credit.

Brunswick Real Estate Capital, established in 2013, is a pioneer in the Nordic market for alternative credit solutions for the commercial real estate sector. To date, the company has launched three successful funds and currently manages assets of approximately €2.5 billion. With its strong institutional capital base, the company can offer secure financing solutions of up to ten years at attractive returns to its investors. Additionally, the company has a distinct ESG focus and is at the forefront of further developing sustainability-linked credit solutions for the real estate industry.

Since 1998, Niam has successfully offered institutional investors the opportunity to invest in the Nordic real estate market.

"Over the years, we have gradually diversified our fund portfolio with strategies covering different property segments and risk-profiles. In 2021 we launched an infrastructure platform focusing on sustainable investments in renewable energy, transport and telecom. Credit is a natural next step for us and complements our existing business. With the acquisition of Brunswick Real Estate Capital, we broaden our offering further and become an even more attractive partner for institutional investors", says Jennifer Andersson, Managing Partner at Niam.

Brunswick Real Estate Capital through its in-house developed credit platform has structurally reviewed over 800 credit opportunities with a total value of approximately €40 billion. The company has financed over 150 properties for €3 billion without incurring any credit losses.

"Niam is one of Northern Europe's largest fund managers within the real estate sector and has a strong track record and brand which gives us the right conditions to further develop our credit platform. Also, Niam, just like us, has a genuine focus on sustainable development in the real estate industry. Together, we can now satisfy the investors’ demand for credit funds and offer real estate players alternative and sustainable credit solutions", says Pontus Sundin, CEO of Niam Credit.

Over the years, Brunswick Real Estate Capital's funds have attracted some of the largest institutional investors in Sweden, including Folksam and PRI, but also Norwegian KLP. Brunswick Real Estate Capital has provided debt financing and established long lasting relationships with real estate companies such as, Castellum, Corem, Fabege and AREIM.
