Niam Infrastructure announces 500 million SEK first close for its debut infrastructure fund

Niam Infra Fund has completed its first external close with more than 500 million SEK (€50 million) in commitments from several Swedish investors. The fund will target small to medium-sized investments with a focus on asset aggregation and risk reduction in primarily Nordic sustainable infrastructure.

Sverker Åkerblom, CEO of Niam Infrastructure, says, “The support from the investors in the first external close enables us to keep our focus on deployment as we continue the capital raise towards our target of 2 billion SEK (€200 million) in commitments to the fund. We have an extensive pipeline of investment opportunities within renewable energy, transport and connectivity focused on delivering solutions to enable the sustainable energy transition.”

Niam Infrastructure was launched in 2021. In August, Niam Infrastructure made its first investment through its fund in Solarwork, a Swedish solar company. Over the next years the plan is to invest 500 million SEK (€50 million) together with Solarwork to deliver affordable and trouble-free green electricity through Solarwork’s fully financed Solar-as-a-Service offering.
